  32. GENERAL
  33.  
  34. This software package has been developed to operate Mitsumi CD-ROM drives
  35. with the Amiga series of computers. These drives were developed for use with
  36. IBM compatible computers. With an apropriate interface, these drives will
  37. work with your Amiga, too!
  38. The Mitsumi drives are low cost, industry standard drives.
  39. They allow MultiSession and Mode2/1 (Photo-CD) access.
  40. The FX-001D is a double speed drive with a data transfer rate of up to 300
  41. kByte/s and an integrated sector buffer of 64 kByte.
  42. I recommend the FX-001D as the best choice for the TandemCD package, however
  43. all other Mitsumi CD-ROM drives will work, too.

  45. The supplied software device driver is able to access all drive features
  46. like double speed, Audio playback, PhotoCD mode and multisession support
  47. without any user interaction.
  48. It will automatically switch to double speed transfer, if a drive capable
  49. of this mode is present.

  51. It will map disks with multiple sessions to one single session. No special
  52. "Multi session" filesystem is required, you may use (aside from the wonderful
  53. CacheCDFS supplied) any of the popular CDROM filesystems like the Commodore
  54. CDFileSystem or the BabelCDROMFS.

  58. REQUIREMENTS
  59.  
  60. You need a Mitsumi CD-ROM drive (LU005S, FX001S or FX001D), a bsc interface
  61. card with cable, and an Amiga 600/1200/2000/3000/4000 computer running
  62. Kickstart and Workbench version 2.04 or later with at least 1MB RAM.
  63. A Harddisk is highly recommended.

  67. INSTALLATION
  68.  
  69. For flawless installation a program is supplied for this purpose. First setup
  70. your CD-ROM drive as described in the hardware manual supplied by bsc. IF THE
  71. CD-ROM DRIVE IS NOT CONNECTED PROPERLY AND IS NOT POWERED UP, THE SOFTWARE WILL
  72. NOT INSTALL!! It is not required, that a CD is present in the drive.
  73. Now boot your Amiga as you usually would. Insert the TandemCD disk in any
  74. drive and double-click on the Install-TandemCD icon.
  75. The software will now automatically install itself on your harddrive or
  76. startup - floppydisk.
  77. The installation procedure is interactive, and extensive online help is
  78. available. After the installation process is complete, you should reboot your
  79. machine. Now your new CD-ROM drive should be fully operational.

  86.   Exec device driver for bsc TandemCD board (A2000/3000/4000)

  95. The installation program will install the correct device driver
  96. automatically.

  98. - TandemCacheCDFS
  99.   ISO9660 file system (DOS device driver), providing a sophisticated
  100.   caching    system offering a n-set associated cache. This FileSystem is
  101.   restricted for use with the Tandem package, a full version for any
  102.   cdrom device with additional support for RockRidge and MAC HFS file
  103.   systems is available directly from Elaborate Bytes:

  110. - CDFSprefs
  111.   This program is a preferences editor for the CacheCDFS. It allows you to
  112.   change the settings for the file system without struggeling with your
  113.   CLI, Dos editor and the mountlists. For proper operation, the filesystem
  114.   MUST be installed with the supplied installation program!
  115.

  117. - KillDev
  118.   This program belongs to the CacheCDFS. It allows you to completely
  119.   unmount your CD-ROM from the system. If the FileSystem is still in use
  120.   (e.g. there are open files on a disc, or you have opened the volume)
  121.   KillDev will print an error message.
  122.  
  123. - PlayCD
  124.   A tiny Audio Disc player. It offers repeat play, volume adjust (FX001
  125.   only), track programming, shuffle play.
  126.  
  127. - playcd.font
  128.   PlayCD can use an own font for its display. However, if you don't want to
  129.   copy the PlayCD font files to your fonts: directory, you may instruct
  130.   the installation program to do so.
  131.   PlayCD will look for its font, if the font can't be found, it will use
  132.   topaz 8 instead.
  133.  
  134. - EjectCD
  135.   Opens a small window with an eject button for FX001 drives, because the
  136.   Eject button is a bit misplaced under the CD-tray.
  137.   It is useless with LU005 drives.
  138.  
  139. - FindCD
  140.   This program is used only during the installation process. It creates
  141.   two environment variables, CDROM_Device and CDROM_Unit. These are
  142.   only useful during the installation.
